Walk-ins will not be accepted. Our schedule operates solely by appointment, even just for jewelry purchases, and the door will remain locked between appointments.
Beginning April 1, 2023, masks will be optional for vaccinated clients with proof of vaccination and required for unvaccinated clients.
For any piercings or jewelry changes under the mask (oral, nostril, or septum) you must bring proof of your vaccination status including booster, with no exceptions. Failure to provide proof of vaccination will result in a canceled appointment and a cancellation fee. All staff is vaccinated and boosted.
No visitors will be permitted, please come to your appointment alone, unless you're a minor. Minors need one parent/guardian present. Only one person will be allowed in the studio at a time (except minors and their parent or guardian).
Release forms will be emailed to you the day before your appointment. Please complete the form with a photo of your ID prior to arriving. *Minors please scroll down for a detailed list of appropriate documentation. If the release form is not complete upon arrival, it may result in a cancellation of the appointment and a cancellation fee. IDs will be checked when you arrive.
If you are feeling sick, please do not come in. If you have come in contact with anyone who has been sick in the past two weeks, please do not come in.
Due to our limited availability, we will be implementing a $30 cancellation fee per service booked. The cancellation fee may be higher for longer appointments. Fees are listed on the booking site.
Our piercing fee starts at $45 plus the cost of jewelry. The total price will vary greatly based on the jewelry you select. Together, cartilage piercing with our most classic titanium jewelry starts around $80 ($45 piercing fee + $35 jewelry) and goes up from there. If you would like a specific quote, contact us for a consultation. We love to help.
The studio has two private piercing rooms. This means that when booking, you’ll have the option to choose an appointment in a ‘Private Space’ or ’Shared Space’. Private Space means there will be one piercer on staff that day, and you will have both the piercer and the counter staff assisting you during your appointment. There won’t be any other appointments in the building.
Because curation appointments are so involved, we only book them in the Private Space so you have our staff’s undivided attention. Booking in the Shared Space means two piercers are on staff and two appointments will be in the studio at the same time.
You will always have a private piercing room. Being in the shared space only means you will be sharing the lobby and the counter staff during your time. Because we do not currently allow walk-ins, the only people in the studio at any time are people with appointments. Our door is locked between appointments.
All surfaces are carefully disinfected between clients, and jewelry is sterilized using top-of-the-line autoclaves that are weekly tested for efficiency using an independent third-party laboratory.
Make Me Holey is a completely disposable studio, which means any tool that goes into someone's body is disposed of and never used again on another person. This includes our top-of-line tri-bevel piercing needles.
When piercing the cartilage, it’s important that one ear heals at a time. This ensures you have a safe ear to sleep on, talk on the phone, and give hugs! If you currently have a healing cartilage, we’ll only add a new cartilage piercing on the same side. If you’re getting multiple cartilage piercings during your appointment, they’ll all need to be on the same ear. Earlobes are an easier healing area, and those can be done on both ears!
Our bodies are all very different and it's important for us to review your anatomy to ensure perfect placement and healing. A consultation is always included during your appointment.
As much as we love hoops and round rings, they do not support proper healing (For most piercings. Septum and Daith are the exceptions), therefore are not allowed for most new piercings. It's important to us that you heal well.
For initial piercings, we always use jewelry that is a little longer than you'll ultimately need to allow space for swelling. Once the swelling has gone down, you’ll come back for a follow-up to have the post/wearing surface portion of the jewelry switched to a shorter piece. Switching to a shorter, appropriately fitted piece is crucial for the healing process.
Wearing ill-fitted jewelry can slow down healing, prevent healing or cause long-term issues like migration. The decorative ’top’ portion of the jewelry will go with you to the shorter post. This is called a downsize and will be booked for you at your initial appointment. Downsizes are typically booked 4-8 weeks after the initial piercing, but it is normal for piercings to occasionally need more time to downsize.
It all depends on each individual person and their individual healing process.
You’ll be emailed a release form, which must be completed with a photo of your ID prior to arriving. When the form is complete, a copy will be sent to the studio for review and you’ll also receive a copy for your records. If the form is not completed upon arrival, your appointment may need to be canceled which could result in a cancellation fee.
Any cancellations made less than 24 hours prior will be charged a $30 cancellation fee per service booked. This fee can be higher for longer appointments like curations.
If you are feeling sick, or have come in contact with anyone who is sick, please call so we can reschedule.
Our space is small and gets crowded quickly. We no longer allow guests in the studio, so please come solo. Unless you're a minor. Minors need one parent or guardian present.
Allow yourself enough time for parking. Bring quarters for the meters or give yourself time to walk from a nearby parking garage. Do not park in the hotel parking next door, your car will likely be towed. If you are later than 10 minutes, we may have to reschedule and you will be charged the cancellation fee.
Masks are currently optional for vaccinated clients. Please bring proof of vaccination to your appointment. If unable to provide proof, then a mask will be required. Any service under a mask (oral, nostril, septum) will require proof of vaccination.
During your appointment, we will schedule a follow-up to downsize to a shorter backing. After the swelling has gone down, it’s important for the healing to switch to a shorter, better-fitting post. This eliminates excess movement and esthetically looks better! There is an additional cost to purchase the new post but we always offer 20% off shorter jewelry.
Once you leave the studio with your fresh piercing, you now have the responsibility of making sure it stays clean.
Do. Not. Touch. It.
The less action your piercing gets, the better. Try not to sleep on it, take advantage of your phone's speaker function, avoid getting hair products, make-up, soaps, or lotions on it, and make sure that pillows or any other material touching it is always clean.
Keep your piercing free of any buildup by rinsing it thoroughly with sterile saline at least twice a day. Don't touch or move the jewelry. Movement forces buildup which causes more trauma and introduces bacteria. Be sure to use a saline solution or nasal spray.
Your most thorough cleaning of the day will always be in the shower. When you're finished, be sure to rinse your piercing with running water to flush off any buildup or soap residue. For facial piercings, also flush with water after a face wash. For nostril piercings, pool up hot water in your hands and use your nose to blow bubbles in the water. This flushes out the inside of your nostril without touching it. For oral piercings, rinse your mouth with cold clean water in the morning, before bed, and after every meal. You can also eat ice to alleviate any swelling.
It is normal during the healing process to have some swelling, redness, bruising, minor bleeding, and tenderness. Your piercing will heal from the outside in, and may not be completely healed even if it feels like it is. Even after it is healed, never leave your jewelry out for an extended period of time. Everybody is different, and it may begin to close more quickly than you'd think.
By continuing to schedule an appointment, you're agreeing to the information above. While these instructions are guidelines, they're not to be considered a substitute for medical advice from a doctor. If you suspect an infection, please seek medical attention.
We're happy to pierce ages 16+ with parental consent. You and your parent must have a valid photo ID, and your parent must be present. *This includes driver's license, state ID, passport, and military ID. If your last name differs from your parents, you must bring your birth certificate and your photo ID. If your parent is not your legal guardian, you will need to supply the proper paperwork to prove legal guardianship. No exceptions.
No nipple piercings under 18. Sorry, please come back when you're of age. If you're pregnant or nursing, we can't wait to see you another time. If you're *at all* confused, please use the button in the bottom right corner of your screen to call and ask our lovely receptionist.
